Another Month, Another Update

So there's been a lot going on since the last time I updated. I want to try to keep this website at least somewhat relevant so I'm going to give a brief run down!

As mentioned before, we were getting some airplay on 93.7 WSTW out of Wilmington, Delaware because of the awesome support of you guys, aka our fans, aka the Jets. I'm not sure if it was the force of our fans or the offer of cupcake cones, but Mark Rogers of Hometown Heroes did us the great honor of inviting us in the studio to co-host the show with him on Sunday, April 6th. It was a really awesome night. Our first real experience with being interviewed and really treated like a "real" band. If playing the Fire in Philly didn't make us a legit band, than this did. Right? Anyway, if you missed it and you'd like to check it out, you can download the podcast at http://www.wstw.com/heroes. As I said, we were there on April 6th so of course that means to hear us you download the 04/06/08 podcast. It'll be up until next Sunday, the 20th. After that, it'll be available to download somewhere on this site (hopefully). If you come here after April 20th and you can't seem to find it on here, just email us @ jenell_music@yahoo.com and we'll personally email the podcast to you! It's pretty awesome! You'll want to hear it! We rocked 3 songs live and "Favorite Face" got it's first radio play! And I displayed my sexy radio voice! I didn't actually know I had a sexy radio voice, but everyone (including my own grandmother) told me that I had a radio friendly voice. I admit, I was nervous and I was trying to not sound as annoying as I think I sound, and I've now learned that I should always speak that way, I guess. Or at least when I'm tryin to pick up dates! Hooha! Furthermore, thanks to everyone who tuned in and has given us support these last few months! It's been awesome! Stick with us! We're attempting very fervently to go places!!

We were also involved in WCUR's Grand Ram Band Slam competition. I use the word "involved" loosely. The Grand Ram Band Slam is a 3 round competition to win $1000. Well, we made it into the contest and then we made it through the first round and then we very nearly made it through the second round, but lost by a nose. There was online voting and though we killed in round 1, round 2 was a little tougher. Jamie and I put out the word to everyone and pushed hard, but at the end of the day of voting it was 324 to 311. SO CLOSE! And though we didn't win, we did gain a lot more friends/fans and made some new connections so it's not a total bust. And we got to see the Jets in action! People were posting up bulletins and trying to get their friends and family to vote and I for one was definitely blown away by the sincere efforts of others! I know that next time we have this kind of thing, we do have a great group of people backing us. :)

And lastly, we finally got a new mailing list! We signed up to ReverbNation and they have an awesome fan outreach which includes a free mailing list! I haven't gotten to use it at it's full potential, but it's new and I'm just getting the ropes! But sign up below! Sign up!

I think that's all I have to update about so far. There's lots of new dates up so come out and rock out. Come out and hear our new songs including our latest rocker, "Knife Fight". Thanks for checking out our site! Hope you enjoy! It's STILL in construction, but things are moving along! Take care! xxoo, jeNell

Look Ma, No Hands!

This is my first attempt at updating the site without our amazing web designer, John, holding my hand during. Or, actually, to be more accurate, this is the first time I've typed it and put it on the site myself rather than typing it up, emailing it to him and asking him to do it. So, this could be an absolute mess. I don't know. I may unintentionally be the end of this website. Internet manslaughter. Anyway, lots of good things have been happening for us lately! We added a new member the end of January! We welcomed guitarist James Bailey into the mix and it's really injected more rock into our alternative folk blood! I'm really happy with the way things have been sounding. He's a huge improvement for us! If you haven't heard us live since we added him, you should! Not just because we rock harder, but because I got to be free of my guitar and I'm not quite so stuck to a microphone stand. It's glorious! Also, we were lucky enough to be played TWICE on the radio! 93.7 WSTW has a show that supports unsigned bands and artists in the Tri-state Area called Hometown Heroes and thanks to our amazing fans out there, DJ Mark Rogers broke his own cardinal rule and played a band two weeks in a row! Last night we were "by far" the most requested band of the night so much so that he HAD to play us despite his own rules. We're breaking rules and making records and taking names, people! Ya can't stop dis train! ... Yeah, I don't know what I'm talking about. But that's something we're very excited about and it had to be shared. We've been booking some shows for the upcoming spring season and I hope those will continue to be as awesome as all the rest! I don't really have anything else I want to say here. I'm going to end this then. Thanks for.. uh.. reading! xxoo, jeNell

First Post OMG

'Welcome to the official website of JeNell & the Yets! The site is new. So new. Fresh out of the womb. Just letting out our first cries on this earth! So we ask for your patience while we get cleaned up and incubated. They'll be more things added and fixed and tweaked and perfected, etc, etc. We could have held off on unveiling until everything was at it's full potential, but we were just too excited! Too excited about the release of our debut album, 'Localized Phenomenon'!! Check out the site, check out some tunes, and then consider your options; you can preview/download the whole album on DigStation (click here!), you can hold off for just a tiny bit until we're up on CDBaby (then you can have your own copy in your pretty little hands!) or you can be a jerk and do neither. If none of these options satisfy you, go to New Revelations Music & Novelty Shop in Millville, NJ and get your own copy without paying shipping and handling! Unless you live far away and then there's an issue of shipping and handling yourself. And if that doesn't please you.. then.. there is no pleasing you. And I apologize. Perhaps you were looking for the Make-a-Wish Foundation website. This is just the awesome, new, official website of South Jersey's hidden talent, JeNell & the Yets! SO GO! ENJOY! WE WON'T BITE...UNLESS ASKED!'
